A Heuristic Solution Approach to Order Batching and Sequencing for Manual Picking and Packing Lines considering Fatiguing Effect

In this research, we study an extended version of the joint order batching and scheduling optimization for manual vegetable picking packing lines with consideration workers’ fatiguing effect. This problem is faced by many B2C fresh produce grocers in China on a daily basis which could severely decrease overall workflow efficiency distribution center customer satisfaction. sequencing problem, setup time processing each batch volume-dependent similarity dependent, as less ergonomic motion needed replenishing similar orders. addition, worker’s effect, usually caused late shift repetitive operation, affects times, assumed to follow general form logistic growth respect start processing. We develop heuristic approach solve resultant NP-hard minimization total completion time. To sequence batches, genetic algorithm adapted improved proposed several efficient initialization precedence rules. Within batch, nondecreasing item quantity used.
